Family holidays in St Ives
St Ives is perfect for family holidays. Our beaches have some of the cleanest waters in Western Europe, and Porthminster beach – the spectacular crescent of perfect, golden sand that’s right on our doorstep – has won the prestigious European Blue Flag award for several years running. The particularly calm, sheltered waters here are perfect for paddling, swimming and snorkelling. And as our guests, you’ll have access to the beach through our private gardens.
If you can tear yourselves away from the beach, there are plenty of opportunities for family activities both in the hotel and around St Ives. Our heated indoor pool is great for children of all ages, and in season our outdoor pool allows you to swim in the sunshine. If you’ve got older children, there are a range of family adventure activities to choose from in St Ives, including surfing, windsurfing, horse riding and climbing – we can put you in touch with instructors in a wide range of activities.

We know that when you’re on holiday with children, a few extra considerations can make all the difference to your stay, so our range of family-friendly features and services are designed to make your break as relaxing as possible. Some of our tailor-made Family Suites incorporate adjoining bedrooms for children, so all of you get the space you need. All feature either twin beds or bunk beds for children, and cots and high chairs are available on request. To make meal times easier, we can serve children’s dinners early, either in your room or in the restaurant from 5.30 to 6.30pm (please order in advance at reception). And if you want to enjoy a drink at the bar or an evening meal once the children are in bed, you can use the phone to listen in to your room and check your child is sleeping soundly from any telephone in the hotel (please contact reception to arrange this facility).
(Children’s rates apply when children share a room with two adults. Children aged up to five years old go free, children aged between six and eleven are half adult-price, and children aged between twelve and sixteen are 75% of the adult price.)
