Planning and booking
You can start planning your ceremony with us up to two years in advance. Just give us a call to discuss your needs – and if you’d like to come for a visit, we’d be more than happy to show you around. You’ll also need to contact the District Register Office at Penzance (up to one year in advance of your wedding) to ensure the registrars can attend on your chosen date and time, and give a legal notice of marriage to the Superintendent Registrar of the district(s) where you live.
For more information about the notice procedure, legal requirements, documentation and current registration fees, please contact the Register Office at Penzance.
Civil wedding ceremonies
By law, civil wedding ceremonies are non-religious, and usually last for around fifteen minutes. We can help you tailor a ceremony to suit you – whether you want a white wedding complete with traditional bridal procession, bridesmaids and ushers, or a simple, intimate ceremony with just your two witnesses and a few special guests. Our wedding co-ordinators can advise on protocol, floral arrangements, music and readings (but please note that the law requires that music and readings must not contain any religious references, and your choices must be approved by the Superintendent Registrar well in advance of the wedding). We can also provide witnesses for your ceremony if required (at an additional cost).
Charges for holding your wedding ceremony start at £120, and this includes room hire, the Hotel License Fee, and flowers for the registration table. The Registrars fees for conducting your ceremony must be paid to them directly, no less than four weeks before the date of your wedding.
Civil partnership ceremonies
As a licensed venue we’re delighted to be able to host civil partnership ceremonies for same sex couples at The Porthminster hotel. Please contact us to arrange a date and discuss your requirements. You’ll also need to contact the Register Office at Penzance to ensure the Registrars can attend at your chosen time, and book a date. In addition, you’ll both need to give legal notice of your intention to register your civil partnership in person at the District Register Office(s) where you live.
